While rainfall varied from location to location as seen on the graph, variation was also found within locations where the rainfall was measured. As one grower who lives within 5 km of the Exeter location stated "that sure as heck wasn't measured at my farm". Living on the concessions not in the path of the rain clouds was not a good thing in 2007 since the showers were so sporadic this summer. Not only the amount but also the timing of the rainfall had a huge impact on crop development. Fields that did not receive rainfall during pollination and/or seed development suffered yield losses as a result. Reports of growers seeing huge variations in yields are common.

In reading the graph note that it is set up as a "stacked" bar graph with each month's data stacked on the previous month for a location. The lines that cross the bar indicate the "normal" expected for the location as of the month end. Accumulation measured and normals expected are colour co-ordinated on the legend at the bottom of the graph.
