Crop Progress Report for the Seaforth area for week of July 23rd, 2007 Crop Progress Report for the Seaforth area for week of July 23rd, 2007

Wheat:
Wheat harvest is well on the way, and initial yield reports are above average.
Quality is very good as well.

Corn:
Most of the corn is looking good and all is flowering.  Now is the time to consider scouting no-Bt fields to asses infestations of the European Corn Boar.  There are no other major concerns at this time.

Soybeans:
Most soybeans are currently at the R5 (pod filling) stage and are looking very good.  One concern is aphid presser, which is currently low in this area and there is no need for spraying at this time.  Keep scouting fields regularly for this pest.  The threshold for Soybean Aphids is to “take action if populations are actively increasing above 250 aphids per plant on 80% of the plants.  There are no other concerns at this time.

Edible Beans
The edible beans are looking good at this time.  Leafhopper populations are low, but can quickly build up under hot and dry conditions.
