HDC Grain Trader (Job #261)

Hensall District Co-operative, Inc. is a progressive co-operative in its 80th year of business and continues to grow. We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to become an integral part of our Grain Merchandising Team at the Hensall location.   

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use strategic planning to establish targets, meet overall initiatives and attain annual budgets/goals.
  • Maintain a strong active knowledge of freight costs, cash and deferred basis, and CBOT market trends to develop well-informed trading strategies.
  • Maintain proper risk management techniques.
  • Actively drive new business growth by maintaining and developing new relationships to ensure a high level of service is provided.
  • Provide ongoing market information and feedback to the grain merchandising group for the purpose of developing effective procurement plans.
  • Maintain accurate grain accounting records/reports and handle problems as they arise.

Job Requirements:

  • Exceptional negotiation, time management, interpersonal and communication skills with a pleasant demeanor.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with others and the capacity to develop good business relationships.
  • High degree of technical knowledge in commercial grain markets- both domestic and international.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of grain trading, risk management, logistics and customer service experience.
  • Strong interest in agricultural commodity markets.
  • Experience with computer applications including Microsoft Office suite.
